or is Ilse barfing just a bit less than previously since going on the Prevacid? I guess time will tell. Please pray it's so. (That she's barfing less, not that I'm crazy. I wouldn't thank you for that. :)
My mom came today to help me clean up my house. I know, I'm sure I shouldn't need help, but I certainly did and I can't thank her enough. My floors are now clean, and my stuff is dusted. I feel much better, and Ilse's room looks all bright and clean.
Ilse screamed some today, but she stopped when I put her on my lap and hushed her and patted her. It's amazing how my voice can quiet her.
We are still working on tweaking her food. I'm trying to keep to the schedule the hospital doctors set up but sometimes it's impossible. Two nights ago I apparently talked in my sleep and told Tim just to turn off her pump when the first half of her milk had finished, and today her food times were all messed up. Nevertheless, she's gaining weight. She's now 8 lbs. 14 1/2 ounces, according to our scale. The last time I weighed her she was 8 lbs. 11 1/2 oz. I'm pleased she's growing, but I'm sad she has grown out of one of my favorite outfits. Her little lady bug onesie is no more. She's not too fat for it; she's too long. Much, much too long. It looks like a long shirt, and since Ilse is a lady, she ALWAYS covers her diaper. Long shirts with no bottoms simply won't do.
Tonight she fell asleep on my chest since she just bawled every time I put her down. I know I could be creating a monster, but I'm very willing to deal with that when the time comes. Right now I just want to enjoy my baby and have her enjoy me. We've already missed enough time together.
About Joey and Bam-Bam... they have discovered getting dirty in the yard. I don't mind, and they just love it. Bam-Bam comes in covered in dirt and so so sweaty! He definitely takes after his father. Nobody sweats more than Mr. Timothy Minich. All he has to do is sit there and breathe and he needs a shower. Bam-Bam is exactly the same.
We have finally given the boys permission to get out of bed in the morning and play in their room until we wake up. They wanted this for the longest time..... but NOW, they aren't taking the privilege. Apparently THEY have discovered sleeping in. Joey tells me, "But we were still sleeeeeeeping." Ok then.
And we are slowly but surely getting things together around here. We've figured out what we need to take where and we've found some shortcuts, mostly thanks to Kimberly.
AND the other night we actually went through the dirty, disgusting, moldy laundry from the garage (remember the flood?) and threw it away. Except Tim had forgotten to put out the trash the day before, so he said, "Well, let's just put these bags of clothes in the dog kennel." And that night it rained. I do NOT want to know what those clothes smell like now. I loved Stella, but once I was pregnant I almost NEVER bathed her. She stank, and now those clothes...... eww.
Everybody take care! :)

Roses, as promised
Here are the promised rose pictures. I know, the rocks on the bottom and the dropped pedals are not so lovely.
Below is the giant hole dug by.........
I do not know what is wrong with the above bush. It is actually my least favorite. It looks like it can't make up its mind about what kind of flowers it wants to produce.
This is the view from inside the fence. I love looking out into the back yard because it is is green and happy.
This is my most favorite spot to look at. Not because I love the bird feeder, because I don't, and not because I love the rocks, because I don't. But, I do love the corner view of so many plants. This corner is where the daffodils bloom in the early spring. They stay bloomed until Stella eats them. :)
Below is the giant hole dug by.........
these two hoodlums:
I love my crepe myrtle. It blooms pink.
Also, the view of my front yard trees from my back yard is enthralling. I LOVE trees.
Stella and Faith and other Real Life Situations
Today I finally got tired of the massive container of pretzels just sitting around my house. I know, Charlie generally consumes a few when he comes over, but that isn't altogether often, and I have to purge my house some.
No, even though it was suggested (Thanks, Kim) I'm not doing a giveaway of junk I want to get rid of anyway, but, I did come up with a nice option for getting rid of the bottom 1/5 of the container of pretzels.
I gave them to the dogs. Boy, did the dogs go wild.... at first. I thought Stella was going to bite my fingers off in her enthusiasm to get at those disgusting pretzels. However, one stern "SHHH! Stella!" and she calmed right down and began 'performing' to get her treats. She would sit, and then if I didn't give her one in a timely manner, she would lay down, all the while looking at me ready to take the pretzel ever so gently from my fingers.
Faith, on the other hand, was an absolute wild beast. I'm starting to like her a bit, but she needs to learn some stuff before I decide I'd like a Faith rug instead of a little tiny puppy, who isn't little anymore at all. It took many sit! commands before she would sit still long enough to get a pretzel, but then she managed to accomplish taking it from me calmly several times. Her teeth, of course, aren't as sharp as Stella's, but I still wouldn't like to be bitten accidentally. What would my dad say?!?!? :) Although, I have to admit, it would be ironic if the lab bit me instead of my murdering cutthroat beast. That would earn a laugh from me, and my family would shake their heads in disbelief.
Faith is starting to get a few manners. She doesn't nip at Joey so badly when he goes out to feed and water the dogs, which, perhaps is not so much manners as she doesn't want to get yelled at from a big ol' mean mommy, who has started going out with Joey. It's funny that I go out to protect him from Faith when Stella (our murdering cutthroat beast) just calmly and politely sniffs Joey's butt or stands in his way because she wants water, by george!
Tim's been talking about getting our new yard guys ($25.75 for the yard now, as opposed to $43.80, and these guys come before naptime, yay!) to plant some grass, but I say, what's the use? We're not moving this week, and the dogs would just tear it up anyway. We need to hold off and do the yard when we are leaving. It is an eyesore to Tim though, but in my view, the roses in the back (amazing blooms!) shield the yard from too many lookers, so maybe Tim and our next door neighbors are really the only ones who mind the grass anyway.
I've just plugged in the camera to charge, so if you are dying to see pictures of my roses, I'll post some later today. I know Jean has posted amazing pictures of her roses, and frankly they (and the music she has on her blog) make me kinda jealous. :) But nevertheless, I do love my roses, and I'm a bit disconcerted because I didn't feel that alive in February and so I didn't cut them back, so now this summer they're going to be even more massive than last year. I'm thinking the city might come by and complain because the bushes are encroaching on the alley. I have read, though, that you aren't supposed to cut these kinds of roses back because it makes them more bushy, but, what do I know. Either way they're too massive and the city will complain.
Speaking of complaining....... I'm fully expecting Tim to get arrested here shortly, since the city of Dallas is rounding up all the people with outstanding parking tickets. We have one, through no fault of our own. D&M Leasing didn't reregister the car they bought from us, even though they were supposed to, and some doofus parked the wrong way in Dallas. We, of course, got the ticket, and when I didn't act on it like within five days, we got another one with a fine added on. Good grief. We called D&M, and the lady said she would take care of it. Hopefully she did, or when the SWAT team shows up here, I'll have to direct them to Tim's work because, by george, I'm not leaving my babies to go to jail for a misunderstanding. Thankfully, Tim is totally on board with me throwing him under the bus in this way. What a nice husband I have. :) And yes, it is a SWAT team that would show up, or so the radio announcement said. Maybe I should call the city or something to see the state of that ticket. That might be a brilliant idea. And you're all like, "Well duh!"
I want to give a shout of for my lovely sons.... they are so helpful. Granted, today when I said we were doing laundry they announced they wanted to ride their bikes and I had to say, umm no, we're doing laundry, but in general they are incredibly helpful to a mommy who does not currently like to bend over. Every time I bend over I'm worried I'll feel that terribly sharp pain that I felt the other day in the shower. I think I might have broken Ilse's arm or something, because, clearly, something other than ME was in the way of my bend. And I didn't even try a snap. That would be a disaster at this juncture. I could, at this point, link to YouTube with the fabulous bend and snap scene from Legally Blond, but that the risk of offending my more sensitive readers, I'll refrain. I'm sure you've scene :) it.
Back to the boys: they are so fabulous at helping pick up the dirty laundry and putting it in the washer.... once we learned which one was the washer. Also, Joey loves switching loads over. Boy, are their wives going to love them.
Now if I can just teach them to get the vacuum and vacuum up the massive spiders they keep discovering in their rooms, and not let me know about it, I'd be one eternally happy momma.

30 Week Appointment
I had my 30 week appointment on Wednesday, and surprise, surprise, my blood pressure went down. I know. What a shocker. Even the doctor was surprised. I don't know how that could have happened, because I certainly didn't do anything to warrant it. It'd pretty much even stopped drinking my grape juice. Nevertheless, down it was, and I'm glad.
Don't get any ideas, though, it was still high. Really high, actually, but lower than it was the last time. :)
Everything is progressing well. I'm not swollen, not diabetic, not anything, yet. We're just hanging out... and when I say hanging out, I do mean hanging out. Ilse's getting bigger every day, and she is making my stomach muscles ACHE! Ouchie kazoochie!
After my two nap day yesterday, Joey has taken to asking me (several times already today) "Are you going to take a nap, Mommy?" If I didn't know better I'd think he had something nefarious planned, but he's a bit too young for that.
I'm trying hard not to overdo it, but I do have a lot of things to do to get ready to go later. I need to clean my kitchen, pack my bag, go to Sam's, get the food ready, and get another water bowl for my puppies.
Speaking of puppies, I guess I'm starting to like Faith a little bit. It helps that she is learning how to sit down and let me pet her, although, I do shake a stick at her when she nips at me. She just can't be doing that to get attention, either mine or Joey's. That's like a kid that cusses to get attention. Not. Gonna. Happen.
Back to the doctor: I go back in two weeks, and hopefully my blood pressure will still be good. I'll be excited when we get to 36 weeks. I think I'll feel like she'll come any day, and I'll get really excited. I'm managing my excitement at this state, and plus, I don't really have the energy to be too excited right now. Ilse is making me
so
so
tired.

Confession Time Again
This is Confession Time.... the time when we can say things that we wouldn't normally admit and no one can fuss at you about it. :)
I hate Faith. No, not the "assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen" --- the dog.
Yes, I hate Faith the Dog. She's just not my cup of tea. We got her for the boys, and it has worked out great. Joey isn't afraid of her at all, although if he doesn't swiftly learn how not to hit her on the head he might get to be afraid of her.
But me, nope.... I could take her or leave her, preferably leave her. I certainly wouldn't run into a burning building for Faith (why is that my standard for everything???) but I maybe would for my Stella.
Stella was with me back when I had nothing-- no kids, no purpose, nothing to do.... I'm not debating the godliness of my previous feelings, I'm just stating the way it felt at the time. Stella was my cohort, my friend, my companion. She walked around the house with me; she didn't demand anything but she was just there, being my friend, even when I got fed up with her eating the sprinkler heads and let her have it. She still loved me.
Yep, she's my bud. She knows what I want, and she obeys me really well.
But Faith is just dumb. She's fat looking (Marcus and Tim disagree with me about that, but she just doesn't have Stella's sleek physique, so she must be fat) and she's just dumb. Dumb and stupid. People say, "Well, why don't you just get rid of her?" Well, I don't have to like her, do I? I make sure she is fed, has food and water, and I'm never rude to her. If I tell her she's dumb and stupid I make sure I do it in a sweet tone of voice so that she won't know what's really going on.
And Joey likes her. He can get Faith to do anything. She loves him and he likes her well enough. I don't believe my parents loved all my cats... well, at the end, they might have loved Milky Way just as much as I did, which wasn't much. I feel so evil about that, but Ivy still teases me about when she came to me, oh so gently, to tell me Milky Way was dead, and I said, "Really?!" I know.... I was immature and unloving, but she had gotten to be SO annoying. She would scratch on my window at night and keep me awake. Yes, it was my fault because I hadn't fed her, but I just wasn't going to since her food was in a bag, on the back porch, in a smoker, and it was infested with giant roaches. I don't know about you, but I don't put my arm into something crawling with giant roaches. I hardly even touch the vacuum handle if the vacuum has sucked up a giant roach. It's just not for me.
But Faith.... her food isn't infested, and she doesn't have fleas, but still, I just don't like her.
This was Confession Time. If anyone has a confession, please, feel free to leave it in the comments. I won't fuss at you. :)

Today
Tim helped me get some stuff done today since I'm still dealing with my cold. We went to get some new flip flops for the boys at Old Navy. I knew Joey needed new ones since he's been wearing Christopher's since November, when Joey's nice flip flops got eaten by Stella after the adoption party. (Yes, she only ate the flip flops, and that wasn't her fault since they had been left in her yard.)
I looked down today, though, and realized that Bam-Bam also needed new summer shoes. It's unbelievable, since he hasn't really grown too much, it seems, except leaning out. But his stinky feet are another thing entirely. He needed bigger shoes!
So we got both the boys two new pairs of flip flops at Old Navy, and we got Joey some new shirts, because, believe it or not, he's outgrown his 5T shirts. He's such a tall one, just like his Aunt Erika.
We also made a stop at Lane Bryant.... I love that store. Usually I can go in, pick my size off the rack and know it will look fabulous. Not anymore.
In some areas I needed a smaller size, but in my all important tummy, I nearly needed a size up from my regular size. I compromised. I got a few shirts that fit now and possibly, depending on how fast Ilse grows, will fit for several more weeks. I also got a few shirts that are tolerable now, but will fit much better in my tummy (although being giant in other places) for the next couple months or maybe even the duration of my pregnancy, again, just depending on Ilse.
Also, I got one shirt that neither Tim nor I could resist. It is blue with tiny white circles on it, a very cool neckline, an empire waist, and a swanky collar. No, it won't fit much more than a couple more weeks, but I'm sure it will fit after my pregnancy.
So I feel like I am outfitted for the summertime, except for some shorts (unless the ones I have still fit, but I'm not holding my breath).
Yay! I love new clothes. I'm still not used to having new clothes. I remember I used to wear my clothes until I just looked terrible, but a couple years ago I told Tim I just couldn't stand it anymore, and I had to start buying clothes before I looked like a complete weirdo. When my shirts are nearly see through because I've worn them for two straight years.... not summers, but the whole entire year.... it is simply time to go shopping.
And the bright new colors are always so happy that I feel like I've gotten a mood lift just by walking into the store.
Finally-- this is actually what we did first, but I'm writing about it last because this includes the funny line I'm using to conclude my blog post-- we got Tim and the boys new hair cuts. We go to Sports Clips; yes, it's expensive, but the lady there always does a good job, which of course, I always appreciate since I'm paying for a nice hair cut. Tim got a cool cut, that hopefully will not induce teachers at high schools to ask him for his hall pass like usually happens. Bam-Bam got a cut that doesn't make his head look like a microphone, and Joey.....
Joey got a hair cut that looks exactly like
Spock.
Live long and prosper.

The Annals of Stella
Stella came inside for a bit this morning because the boys needed to take their wildness outside... and they are still too afraid of her to go outside with her alone.
I gave her a bone to gnaw on while she was cooling her heels inside, and when she was finally allowed to go back out, she immediately started to dig a hole to put her bone in. I pounded on the glass, because I don't want our yard to have a third hole just because it already has two. She promptly stopped (she is SO obedient) and started to put the dirt back into the 'hole' she had managed to dig in the two seconds I didn't see her. As she was diligently putting the dirt back, Faith the Bandit stole the bone from right under Stella's nose. Stella didn't even notice because she was trying to put the dirt back, but it was so funny to stand there and watch her covering her bone that was basically just lying on top of the ground since I had stopped her from digging her hole.
Silly Stella! And Faith... what a little sneaker!

Stella didn't even notice because she was trying to put the dirt back, but it was so funny to stand there and watch her covering her bone that was basically just lying on top of the ground since I had stopped her from digging her hole.
Silly Stella! And Faith... what a little sneaker!

The Annals of Stella
Today, my amazing Stella once again protected her yard and her house from invaders. Her horrendously protective barking alerted me to the threat, and I immediately jumped up to see who she was holding at bay.
It was a bit of a letdown that it was only the Oncor Electric guy wanting to read our meter because we switched companies, but neither she nor I knew that prior to the incident in question. Better safe than sorry!
Good job, Stella!
(I laughed to myself when the man asked me "Is that a pitbull, too?" talking about Faith. Humph. He obviously doesn't know dogs. SHE doesn't look fierce at all. Kinda sad.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The other day the family and I took the dogs to the park. I had walked Stella for a while and Tim had Faith as the boys pranced on ahead. Halfway around the lake Tim and I switched dogs, because Stella was tearing my arm off (we've been lax in teaching her to heel since having the boys) and Faith was running in between Tim's legs since SHE isn't leash trained at all, yet. So I went on ahead with Faith and the boys, and Tim wrestled with Stella behind me. Heel! Heel! No, Stella, HEEL! :)
Then a nice little old man walked past Tim, cautiously. Then, he passed the boys and me and whispered as quietly as possible... "Watch out for that dog; she'll tear you apart!" I didn't know at first who he meant, and then it occurred to me that he was talking about my Stella. I bet he was shocked later on his second lap when he saw me walking her with the boys right there. She had remembered how to Heel by then, though, so she didn't looking quite as dangerous.
Grammar
It is now less than two weeks until court. We are uber excited.
Now to life:
I have been working with the boys on how to ask a question. And really, I agonized over it way more than I needed to. For as long as they could talk, which has been less than five months, they have been stating their questions in the negative.
"We not getting Daddy right now?"
"I not getting that?"
It got very annoying. But then I had a brain storm. Instead of correcting every time: "ARE we getting Daddy right now?" "AM I getting that pizza?" I just started saying, "How do you ask a question?"
AND IT WORKED! I am so excited. So just now, Bam-Bam says to me: "Stella not want to get in her chair?" I asked him, "How are you supposed to ask a question?" And my silly boy turned to Stella in all seriousness and said: "Will you get in your chair please?"
Upon Stella continuing to sit in the grass, Bam-Bam informed me: "Stella not want to talk right now."
So funny. I think he really expected her to answer him like he has to answer us-- "Yes, Mommy," and "Yes, Daddy."
The Annals of 'The Puppy, My Stella' Pt. 7
At the risk of playing into people's fears, I'm going to phrase the following this way anyway:
Wow! Stella nearly attacked me to get to the special dog food I got for her today! My goodness, she was so excited. I registered for the free Pedigree dog food giveaway for newly adopted dogs, and I finally went and got the food today. There was a free 20 lb. bag and four free cans.
The food she adores is the canned food. It stinks and it's wet, but it is her new best friend. She almost never whines, but after she nudged and nudged and nudged me while I was attempting to extricate it from the can, and ate it, she begged at the door for more! When I gave her the new regular food (now adult instead of puppy) she was not thrilled. I had to coax her to eat it.
Silly doggy.
The Annals of 'The Puppy, My Stella' Pt. 6
I really hurt my Stella today. I was giving her a shower out by the fence, and either I or the leash ripped her teat in nearly off. Poor puppy. She yelped and tried to get away, but she didn't bite me or snap at me.
She loves me. And now she's all nice and clean and fluffy.
The Annals of 'The Puppy, My Stella' Pt. 5
Stella is getting more and more enjoyable. She's also getting more and more self-sufficient. Remember all those blankets she tore up? Well, I decided that I just wasn't going to give her anymore, and if it was cold, oh well. (Below freezing I'd have brought her in, of course!) Well, she hasn't slept in her nice house since then-- not a single night. Instead, she has made herself a nice bed (read 'hole') under the bushes that I almost gave away on Freecycle. I'm glad no one wanted them; they make the perfect shelter for her. When I go out to pet her at night, she comes out from her hiding place and her coat isn't even cold, even if it is freezing to me.
She did tear to pieces the bucket Tim and I had in the yard. I'd really bene enjoying the idea of having a bucket. I know, I sound 5, but literally I'd think about it a couple times a month, how I was so happy I had a bucket. :) Something must have happened in my childhood to make me love my bucket. And she killed it. Chewed it completely in half, and scattered the small pieces all over the yard. I went and picked them up this morning, and she was not pleased I was taking her toys away. There really isn't much else out there she could chew to bits. She's gone at the wicket chairs until we put a stop to that, (won't tell you how), and she also seems to enjoy eating the rose bushes. Man, you'd think I starve her!
She has not eaten the hose. She dragged it across the yard a couple times until we sprayed her with it, and then after three baths with it, she has decided it is not worth her trouble. I'm glad, considering that's a nice hose.
Also, when I was picking up the bucket today, I noticed a pipe of some variety in the yard. This pipe she pulled up out of the ground from somewhere (I have no idea where it was). I wonder if it is a sprinkler? It isn't broken, so it couldn't have been attached to anything. I took it away, and she wasn't happy about that either.
I have been letting her chew on the giant rubber piece she unearthed from the edge of the flower bed. I'm not kidding, it's as long as a car bumper. She likes it pretty well, and I'm glad it's big, since she demolished in two hours the toy I'd gotten her that was supposed to be for touch chewers.
She has also gotten to be quite the guard dog. Our neighbors love us (except the one who walks the glorified rat). I'm sure he thinks his prissy little dog is better than Stella, but regardless of that, Stella could definitely beat up his little yappy dog.
That's all for now!
