Mental Prep

We've starting mentally preparing the boys for the Big Change coming up in the fall--- of attending public school.  And, well, who am I kidding?!?  I've been preparing myself even more.  I thrive on knowing how I'm going to get from A Time to B Time to C Time, and everything I have to do to get from one to the other, etc..

I think it's going to go like this:

Get up around 6:15am and feed the boys a super good breakfast of oatmeal or maybe even chocolate Malt-o-Meal.  Do they even have that anymore?  I have good memories of my mom making me oatmeal whenever I wanted it, even through my college years, and I want to give my boys the same good memory.  I think it's my favorite memory of my mom, actually.  :)

Before we can leave the house at 7:20, I'll need to feed, change, and medicine Ilse, as well as gather all her things that we have to have with us for the short or long (depending) time we'll be out of the house.  This could include her blended lunch and more meds dosed up depending on what my plans are for after I drop the boys and Tim off.  We also have to gather all the boys school items.  Although I plan to have them do that in the evenings, that doesn't mean there won't be things to gather.

We'll leave the house, drop the boys off/walk them in, then I'll have just a bit of time extra before Tim has to be at work.  Maybe we'll have time to grab coffee on the way.  (Wow, a date every morning??  What could be nicer?!?)  Then I'll drop Tim off and either come back home for therapy or do whatever else I have to do.  I like scheduling drs appts in the morning because one of my pet peeves is coming home only to leave again shortly.  I loathe that; I don't know why, but I do.

Ilse and I will be very productive all day long  ;) ever day.  And I'll get to invite people for lunch sometimes, since I won't be as distracted with school and naps.  And, I intend to go shopping with Ellen.  She doesn't know it yet, but we're going to buy/drool over some baby stuff some month coming up here, when she knows who this precious gift is going to be.  I want to take her to Pottery Barn Kids at Willow Bend.

I also intend to make dinner.  It sounds ordinary, but it would be huge for me to actually have time to make dinner during the day instead of rushing through an ordinary dinner later in the evening.  (my family has been patient a long time, and I'm looking forward to surprising them with some delicacies.)

So, that's been my/the boys mental prep so far.

I think we're all excited about the potential for greatness.  Joey has been asking me about things he can learn.  "Do they know about butterflies?  Birds?  Spiders?"  He's looking forward to science!
